In a night filled with grace and emotion at the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Games, the Japanese pair Riku Miura and Ryuichi Kihara captured the gold medal in the pairs figure skating event. The duo delivered a flawless free skate, earning a total score of 231.24 to outclass their competitors. The victory was particularly moving as Kihara was seen skating through tears of joy during the final moments of their routine.

The silver medal was claimed by Germany’s Fabienne Hase and Nikita Volodin, who put up a strong challenge but could not match the technical precision of the Japanese pair. Meanwhile, the nation of Georgia celebrated a historic milestone as Metelkina and Berulava secured the country’s first-ever Winter Olympic medal, taking home the bronze.

This win cements Miura and Kihara's status as legends in the sport, overcoming years of injury setbacks to reach the pinnacle of the podium. Their victory has sparked massive celebrations in Japan, where figure skating remains one of the most-watched Olympic disciplines.
