For the first time in the ongoing conflict, all four major international airports serving Moscow Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky were forced to shut down today due to a massive wave of Ukrainian drone attacks. Russian aviation authorities suspended all flights for several hours as air defense systems were activated across the capital region. This escalation brings the reality of the war directly to the heart of Russia's political and economic center.

Ukraine has claimed responsibility for the strikes, stating they targeted military and logistics infrastructure used to support Russia's invasion. While Russian officials claim to have intercepted most of the drones, some debris caused minor damage to non-residential buildings. The Kremlin has condemned the attacks as an act of terrorism and vowed a "harsh response" against Ukrainian decision-making centers in Kyiv.

The closures caused significant travel disruptions for thousands of passengers and forced several international flights to divert to cities like Saint Petersburg and Kazan. Meanwhile, inside Ukraine, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy continues to urge Western allies for more advanced air defense systems to protect Ukrainian cities from Russia’s ongoing missile barrages. The conflict appears to be entering a more aggressive phase with both sides increasing long-range strikes.
