The 76th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) concluded its 10-day run with the top prize, the Golden Bear for Best Film, being awarded to 'Yellow Letters', directed by Ilker Çatak. The political drama tells the story of a Turkish director and his actor wife who are suddenly barred from working due to their political opinions. Jury president Wim Wenders described the film as a "terrifying premonition" of authoritarianism that gave the jury "chills".

Other major winners at the ceremony included 'Salvation' by Emin Alper, which took home the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize. The festival was notably marked by political discourse, with several awardees and attendees using the platform to speak out on the humanitarian crises in Gaza and Iran.

The European Film Market (EFM), which runs alongside the festival, also reported a 5% increase in attendance this year, with over 12,500 professionals participating. Despite slight decreases in visitors from China and India, the market saw a record number of screenings, further establishing Berlinale as a critical starting point for the global film industry's annual calendar.
