The search for 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, mother of "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie, has entered its fourth week with a significant new development. The Madres Buscadoras de Sonora (Searching Mothers of Sonora), a renowned Mexican volunteer network experienced in locating missing persons, has arrived in Arizona to assist the family. Despite their expertise in finding over 5,000 people in Mexico, the group faced early setbacks as the Pima County Sheriff’s Department denied their permit for a field search, citing potential interference with the official investigation and private property laws.

The Guthrie family has significantly escalated efforts to find Nancy, who was reportedly kidnapped from her Tucson home on January 31. Savannah Guthrie recently announced a $1 million reward for any information leading to her mother’s recovery, a move that has already generated hundreds of tips. While the "Searching Mothers" are currently restricted to distributing flyers in Arizona and searching across the border in Nogales, the FBI has stated there are currently no concrete leads suggesting Nancy has been taken into Mexican territory.
