India secured the final spot in the 2026 T20 World Cup semifinals after a thrilling five-wicket victory over the West Indies at Eden Gardens. Chasing a competitive target of 196, India reached the mark with four balls to spare, led by an unbeaten 97 from Sanju Samson, who was named Player of the Match.

The semifinal matchups are now officially set, featuring South Africa against New Zealand on March 4 at Eden Gardens, followed by a high-stakes clash between India and England on March 5 at Wankhede Stadium. South Africa enters the knockout stage as the top-ranked side from Group 1 with an unbeaten record, while England topped Group 2 with three wins from three matches.

The winners of these two encounters will progress to the grand finale on March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Defending champions England will be looking to repeat their 2024 semifinal victory over India, while New Zealand secured their place through Net Run Rate after Pakistan failed to win their final Super 8 match by a sufficient margin.
