National track cycling legend Datuk Azizulhasni Awang is in peak form ahead of the upcoming Track World Cup Series in Perth, following a morale-boosting victory in the Bananas in Lycra Track Classic in Melbourne. The 38-year-old "Pocket Rocketman" signaled his readiness for high-level competition by winning the men's elite keirin final with a time of 10.42 seconds.

Azizul has experienced a remarkable ranking surge, moving from outside the top 250 into the top 60 for the men's elite sprint within months of returning to competition. Now an independent professional, his performance in Perth will serve as a key indicator of his readiness for upcoming major events, including the Commonwealth and Asian Games.

The Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) continues to view Azizul as central to their plans, with his upcoming results influencing qualification for the World Track Championships in Shanghai. Following the Perth event, he is slated to headline the World Cup leg at the Nilai National Velodrome, potentially marking his final major race on home soil.
