In a strategic move to bolster regional stability and energy security, the Philippines and South Korea have pledged to expand cooperation in high-tech sectors. The two nations signed agreements on Tuesday to collaborate on nuclear power, shipbuilding, and artificial intelligence (AI).

This partnership aims to reduce reliance on traditional energy sources, which have become increasingly volatile due to the Middle East conflict. Indonesia has also announced a milestone in its energy transition, targeting the commissioning of its first nuclear power plant by 2032-2034.

Beyond energy, the regional collaboration includes digital technology and defense ties, reflecting a broader trend in Southeast Asia to seek "Thailand First" or similar crisis management strategies. These initiatives are seen as critical for maintaining economic growth in a turbulent global landscape.
