Malaysian squash ace S. Sivasangari emphatically ended her 13-month title drought by winning the 2026 Squash Australian Open women's title in Brisbane. The tournament's top seed delivered a clinical performance in the final, defeating American Marina Stefanoni in straight games 11-7, 11-4, 11-8. The match lasted just 28 minutes, showcasing Sivasangari's superior pace and precision.

This victory marks Sivasangari's second career PSA Gold-level title, following her success at the London Classic. The World No. 6 remained composed throughout the week, particularly after a long semi-final battle with Belgium's Nele Gilis. She noted that entering as the top seed brought extra pressure, but she stayed focused on her game to secure the 16th title of her professional career.

The win provides a significant boost for Malaysian squash as Sivasangari prepares for more prestigious events later this year. Her clinical win in the final has been hailed by the Squash Racquets Association of Malaysia as a testament to her world-class caliber. This triumph ends a dry spell that lasted since her win at the Cincinnati Gaynor Cup in February 2025.
