A significant maritime accident occurred in St Helier harbour, Jersey, when the Tarifa Jet ferry collided with the harbour ramp. The vessel, operated by DFDS Seaways, was arriving from Saint Malo, France, on Sunday evening when it made contact with the ferry berth. While no injuries were reported among the passengers or crew, the collision caused damage to the ship's stern and resulted in a total loss of power.

As a result of the damage, all sailings between Jersey and Saint Malo scheduled for today, March 30, have been cancelled. Port authorities and DFDS officials are currently conducting a detailed inspection of both the vessel and the harbour infrastructure to ensure they are safe for operation. This disruption has left hundreds of travelers stranded on both sides of the English Channel.

A formal update on the resumption of services is expected later this afternoon. Investigators are looking into whether a technical fault or human error contributed to the ferry's failure to dock safely. In the meantime, passengers have been advised to check for alternative travel arrangements via other ferry operators or local flights.
