In a major boost for Malaysian sports tourism, Sarawak has been officially confirmed as the host for the 2026 IBF World Youth Championships. The historic signing ceremony was held at Mega Lanes Sarawak, marking the first time a world-class bowling event will be held in the state. This also signifies the return of a world bowling championship to Malaysian soil after a 22-year absence. 

The event is expected to welcome the world's best young bowlers to Kuching, providing a prestigious platform for local talents to compete on home ground. The International Bowling Federation (IBF) and the Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC) highlighted the state-of-the-art facilities at Mega Lanes as a key factor in the selection. Preparations are already underway to ensure the venue meets the rigorous standards required for a global youth championship. 

This hosting rights win is part of Malaysia's broader strategy to host more international junior and major sporting events in 2026. Local authorities believe the tournament will not only inspire young Malaysian bowlers but also significantly contribute to the local economy through international participation.
