Defending champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) took a massive step toward another Malaysia Cup final with a crushing 4-0 victory over KL City FC in their semi-final first leg last Friday. Sensational striker Bergson da Silva opened the scoring just five minutes into the match at the KLFA Stadium, setting the tone for a one-sided affair. Ager Aketxe further solidified the lead by scoring twice, while the Southern Tigers' relentless pressure left the "City Boys" with little room to breathe. 

KL City coach Risto Vidakovic candidly admitted after the match that the tie is effectively over, given JDT's overwhelming quality and clinical finishing. JDT head coach Xisco Munoz credited the club's success to the visionary leadership of owner Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, highlighting the robust football structure that continues to dominate the domestic scene. The second leg is now largely seen as a formality for the league leaders, who currently hold a 20-match winning streak in the Super League this season. 

This victory reinforces JDT's status as the heavy favorites to retain the Malaysia Cup trophy later this month.
