New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon expressed deep concerns today regarding the "floundering" global order as international conflicts intensify. During a post Cabinet press conference, Luxon highlighted how the deepening war in the Middle East is causing significant economic ripples, including a sharp rise in global fertilizer and fuel prices that directly affects New Zealand’s primary industries.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the current geopolitical instability is testing the resilience of international law and multilateral institutions. He called for a more coordinated global response to prevent further escalation that could lead to a broader regional or even global conflict. Luxon’s remarks reflect a growing anxiety among middle power nations about their economic and security stability in an increasingly fragmented world.

Domestically, New Zealand is monitoring the situation closely to mitigate the impact on its agricultural sector, which is highly sensitive to input costs like fertilizers. The government is also coordinating with international partners to ensure maritime security for its trade routes, echoing similar safe passage efforts made by other nations in the region.
