In local Malaysian film news, the AI generated film "Parut" has been gaining international acclaim today at various film forums for its innovative use of technology in storytelling. At the same time, veteran director Rahim Razali has expressed his desire to helm one final project before his official retirement, a sentiment that has touched many in the local industry.

New releases currently showing in Malaysian cinemas include the action thriller "823 Hostage Crisis" and the supernatural cop film Mikael: Pemburu Dua Alam, both of which debuted on April 2. These films are leading the local box office alongside major international titles like "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie."

Looking ahead to later this week, the comedy horror "Pee Nak 5" and the mystery film "Alas Roban" are slated for release on April 9. Fans of concert films can also catch the Super Junior 20th Anniversary Tour movie, which began limited screenings just a few days ago on April 4.
