The National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA) reported this morning that it successfully repelled one of the largest coordinated "Distributed Denial of Service" (DDoS) attacks in Malaysia's history. The attack targeted the websites of the Ministry of Defense and the Prime Minister’s Department, coinciding with today's high level security summit in KL. Officials believe the attack was a deliberate attempt by foreign actors to disrupt diplomatic proceedings.

While the primary government portals remained functional, some users experienced intermittent slowdowns in online banking and e-government services earlier today. NACSA has raised the national cyber threat level to "High" and is collaborating with international agencies to trace the origin of the digital assault. Initial reports suggest the traffic was generated by a massive "botnet" network located outside of Southeast Asia.

In response, the Ministry of Communications announced that it will fast track the "Cybersecurity Act 2026" to provide stricter penalties for digital espionage. Local businesses are being urged to update their security protocols as a precaution against follow up attempts. The government has confirmed that no sensitive citizen data or national security information was compromised during the multi hour cyber battle.
