FIFA has officially unveiled the list of 52 referees selected for the 2026 World Cup, which includes a historic inclusion of six women. However, it has been confirmed that no South Korean match officials will be present at the tournament for the fourth straight edition. The tournament, set to be hosted across the USA, Mexico, and Canada, is drawing closer with preparations reaching a fever pitch.

On the commercial front, FIFA has introduced new, significantly more expensive ticket categories for the tournament. Prices for Category 1 seats for the opening match in Toronto have been set as high as $3,360, while the top ticket price for the World Cup final at MetLife Stadium has been raised to $10,990. These price hikes come despite some recent glitch-hampered sales periods.

Diplomatically, tensions remain as Iran has reportedly requested to move its scheduled matches from the United States to Mexico. Despite these requests, FIFA is currently sticking to its original schedule. As qualification wraps up, stars like Cristiano Ronaldo are confirmed to participate, with Portugal qualifying for his record-breaking sixth World Cup appearance.
