Malaysia's run at the 2026 Badminton Asia Championships (BAC) in Ningbo, China, has officially concluded following the elimination of all national pairs in the quarter-finals. Defending champions Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik suffered a grueling three game defeat (21-19, 26-28, 21-13) to South Korea’s Kang Min Hyuk and Ki Dong Ju in a match lasting over 80 minutes. This marks the end of Malaysia's title defense in the men's doubles category.

In other matches, top women's doubles pair Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah were ousted by China’s world number nine pair, Li Yi Jing and Luo Xu Min, in straight games (21-13, 21-15). Mixed doubles stars Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei also fell to their South Korean opponents, ending a disappointing day for the national squad. Despite these exits, coach reports indicate that Lee Zii Jia is 100% recovered and ready for the upcoming Thomas Cup.

The focus for the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) now shifts to the Thomas Cup Finals in Horsens, Denmark. However, there is concern for younger pairs like Wan Arif Wan Junaidi and Yap Roy King, whose early exit in Ningbo may have cost them a spot in the third men's doubles slot for the upcoming major team event.
