In a major anti narcotics operation, Thai police arrested three Malaysian nationals on a train after discovering 97kg of methamphetamine in their possession. The seizure is part of a larger regional effort to disrupt transnational drug trafficking networks that have been moving significant assets through overseas accounts.

On the domestic front, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) reported a 17% rise in road fatalities during this year's combined Chinese New Year and Aidilfitri holiday periods. Despite the increase in traffic deaths, the IGP noted that overall criminal cases reported during the Op Selamat 25 and 26 enforcement periods dropped to 747 cases.

Additionally, the National Registration Department (NRD) recently detained 46 foreigners for the possession and use of fake MyKad identity cards. Meanwhile, in Penang, 11 Indonesians have been remanded to assist in investigations following a series of five armed robberies across the state.
