A police inspector charged with the attempted murder of a fellow officer has been ordered by the court to undergo a psychiatric evaluation at a government hospital. The incident, which occurred during a heated dispute at a police station, resulted in the victim sustaining serious injuries but remaining in stable condition. The defense counsel requested the referral, citing the suspect’s erratic behavior and history of stress related issues during his service.

The court has granted a one month observation period to determine if the officer is fit to stand trial. During this time, the inspector will be under strict supervision by medical professionals who will submit a formal report to the judge. This case has raised internal concerns within the Royal Malaysia Police regarding mental health support for active duty officers and the screening processes used for personnel in high pressure roles.
