Formula 1 has officially confirmed that there will be no Grand Prix races for the remainder of April 2026. The Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix, originally scheduled for this month, were cancelled by the FIA due to escalating regional conflict and logistical shipping deadlines. This decision also impacts support series, including Formula 2, Formula 3, and the F1 Academy, all of which have seen their scheduled rounds scrapped.

This cancellation has created an unprecedented five week gap in the active World Championship calendar. Fans will have to wait until the Miami Grand Prix on May 3 for the next live race action. Stefano Domenicali, CEO of F1, described the decision as difficult but necessary to prioritize the safety of drivers, teams, and fans during the current period of regional instability.

While no replacement races will be added for April, the 2026 season has been reduced to 22 races total. The long break provides teams like Ferrari and Mercedes a rare mid season window to focus on technical development before the championship battle resumes in the United States. Formula 1 has stated it remains committed to returning to the Middle East as soon as safety conditions allow for a stable racing environment.
