Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated today that Malaysia remains firm in its "independent and sovereign" position to speak the truth on the global stage, regardless of the pressure from major world powers. Speaking in Kota Bharu, he highlighted that Malaysia’s courageous stance is clearly reflected in its response to the ongoing West Asian conflict. He noted that even when such positions are difficult for some nations to accept, Malaysia will not compromise its principles for international approval.

The Prime Minister also shared details of a recent discussion with the President of Iran, who reportedly expressed deep appreciation for Malaysia's consistent condemnation of military escalations in the region. Anwar emphasized that Malaysia's foreign policy is built on the foundation of justice and international law, rather than being dictated by the interests of any specific global bloc. This statement is seen as a reinforcement of Malaysia’s "neutral but vocal" role in the current shifting geopolitical landscape.

Domestically, Anwar reiterated that this independent spirit is what drives the Madani government’s economic and social reforms. He stressed that only by being a "principled nation" can Malaysia attract high-quality investments and build lasting partnerships based on mutual respect. The Prime Minister's remarks today serve as a strong signal to both domestic and international audiences that Malaysia intends to play a more active and autonomous role in global diplomacy in the coming years.
