Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is currently engaged in high level discussions with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong to address the escalating maritime tensions in the Middle East. The two leaders have emphasized the need for a unified ASEAN voice to ensure that global supply chains, particularly those passing through the Strait of Malacca, remain unaffected by the ongoing standoff in the Strait of Hormuz. Anwar highlighted that Malaysia’s neutral stance is its greatest asset in mediating regional disputes.

Back at home, the Prime Minister is also overseeing the finalization of the "Madani Budget 2027" framework, which is expected to focus heavily on the semiconductor industry and green energy transitions. During a press conference at Wisma FAM today, he reiterated that the government's priority is to maintain a stable fiscal environment while expanding the digital economy. These efforts are aimed at attracting more high tech investments from global giants like Microsoft and Google, who have recently expanded their presence in Cyberjaya.

Furthermore, Anwar addressed the current cost of living concerns by confirming the additional RM100 diesel aid disbursement that started today. He stated that the government is closely monitoring the impact of global oil price surges on local inflation. To protect the B40 and M40 groups, the Ministry of Finance has been directed to accelerate the rollout of targeted subsidies, ensuring that the most vulnerable citizens are cushioned against international market volatility.
