Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced an additional RM5 billion facility under the Syarikat Jaminan Pembiayaan Perniagaan (SJPP) scheme, bringing the total allocation to RM10 billion. This initiative is specifically designed to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as they navigate the economic impacts of the ongoing West Asia crisis. The enhancement includes increasing the guarantee coverage from 70% to 80% and extending financing terms up to 10 years to provide greater breathing room for local businesses.

The Prime Minister emphasised that this catalyst is vital for smaller companies, particularly those in the agricultural sector, including smallholders, fishermen, and local vendors. This move follows a roundtable session with representatives from 20 financial institutions, aimed at ensuring that credit remains accessible during periods of global energy price volatility. The government remains optimistic about Malaysia's 2026 growth outlook, bolstered by strong bond inflows exceeding US$2 billion in recent weeks.

In a related economic development, the Ministry of Finance has confirmed that an additional RM100 in interim cash assistance under the BUDI Diesel programme is being distributed starting today. This raises the total monthly aid to RM400 for eligible individual owners and agricultural smallholders. These measures are part of a broader strategy to cushion the impact of supply-driven inflation and ensure that the nation's economic uptick benefits all segments of society.
