The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2 has officially surpassed $650 million at the global box office within its first 12 days of release. The sequel, produced by Illumination and Nintendo, has outperformed the original film's opening window in almost every major market, including North America, Japan, and Mexico. Critics and fans have praised the film for introducing Rosalina and the Galaxy setting, which has provided a fresh visual spectacle that appeals to both long-time gamers and new viewers.

Nintendo’s stock saw a 3.4% increase today following reports that the film’s success has accelerated plans for a "Nintendo Cinematic Universe." Internal sources suggest that a Donkey Kong spin-off and a Legend of Zelda live-action project have now been fast-tracked for 2027 and 2028, respectively. The movie's soundtrack, featuring a new power ballad from Bowser, has also reached the top of the streaming charts, mirroring the viral success of the first film's "Peaches."

Merchandise sales related to the film have caused stock shortages at major retailers across Malaysia and Singapore. Special edition "Galaxy" themed Mario and Luigi figures are currently reselling for double their retail price on secondary markets. Analysts predict that if the current momentum continues, the film is highly likely to join the $1 billion club by the end of its first month, potentially becoming the highest-grossing animated film of all time.
