The Sepak Takraw Maksak Games 2026 officially commenced today in Kota Kinabalu, featuring 17 contingents from across Malaysia. Over 400 civil servant athletes and officials have gathered at Dewan Seri Putatan for the four-day event, which aims to foster national integration and promote healthy competition within the public sector. State Secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong emphasized that the championship is a vital platform for showcasing talent and strengthening camaraderie among civil servants.

In East Malaysia, the Special Olympics Malaysia National Games are currently being broadcast live from Bintulu, Sarawak. The games, running today and tomorrow, provide a major competitive stage for athletes with intellectual disabilities, with participants from various states competing for national honors. This event is part of a broader sports calendar that includes the BIMP-EAGA Friendship Games, which Sarawak and Sabah are preparing to host later this year.

Finally, the WDSF International Open dance sports event is taking place in Johor Bahru today. The competition features 356 athletes from 19 countries, with today's schedule focused on the International Open Standard Adult and Solo Standard categories. This busy weekend of sports, spanning from Nilai to Kota Kinabalu, reflects Malaysia's vibrant domestic sporting scene and its growing capacity to host diverse international competitions.
