Thailand and China held significant informal consultations today in Krabi, aimed at deepening bilateral cooperation in technology and the green economy. Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow met with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi to discuss a joint roadmap for innovation, with a specific focus on promoting Electric Vehicle (EV) manufacturing and digital sector growth. Both nations agreed that energy security is their primary concern, given the ongoing instability in the Middle East.

During the talks, China reiterated its support for a peaceful resolution to the Myanmar crisis, seeking to improve relations between the Naypyidaw administration and other ASEAN member states. The meeting also addressed the sensitive Thailand-Cambodia border issue, with China opposing the elevation of bilateral disputes to international forums. In a separate development, Thailand's exports in March 2026 hit a record high of over $35 billion, marking 21 consecutive months of growth.

Elsewhere in the region, Indonesia is mourning the death of another peacekeeper, Private First Class Rico Pramudia, who succumbed to injuries sustained in an Israeli tank explosion in Lebanon last month. On the economic front, Jakarta has officially opened bidding for 116 new oil and gas blocks to global investors in an attempt to reach aggressive production targets. Meanwhile, Vietnam is garnering international praise for its role in presiding over the UN's Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
