During the international climate talks held in Santa Marta, Colombia, France officially published a comprehensive roadmap to eliminate all fossil fuel reliance by 2050. The plan includes a massive shift toward nuclear and renewable energy sources, with significant investments earmarked for hydrogen technology and sustainable urban transport. This move positions France as a lead advocate for the global energy transition.

The roadmap was presented as part of the first-ever international talks dedicated specifically to the phase out of fossil fuels. French officials emphasized that the current energy crisis, exacerbated by the conflict in the Middle East, has only reinforced the urgent need for energy independence and long-term environmental sustainability. The plan also calls for a complete ban on new fossil fuel-powered vehicles by 2035.

While environmental groups have praised the ambitious targets, industrial sectors have expressed concerns about the speed of the transition and the potential impact on manufacturing costs. The French government has pledged to provide subsidies and transition packages for affected workers, aiming to ensure that the shift to a "green economy" does not lead to significant job losses or economic instability.
