Negeri Sembilan Umno Youth has issued a firm denial against claims that the wing is involved in the royal institution in political matters. The wing's chief, Sufian Maradzi, clarified that their recent statements and actions were intended to uphold the dignity of the monarchy rather than exploit it for political gain. This response comes after several quarters accused the youth wing of using royal sentiments to stir public emotion regarding ongoing state and national issues.
Sufian emphasized that Umno Youth’s stance has always been to act as a "shield" for the Malay rulers, ensuring that the institution remains respected and above the political fray. He noted that expressing loyalty and seeking guidance from the palace is a traditional practice that should not be misinterpreted as political maneuvering. The wing urged critics to stop spinning their narratives, as such accusations could create unnecessary friction between the public and the palace.
The controversy reportedly surfaced following a series of social media posts and public gatherings where Umno Youth members were seen referencing royal decrees. By clearing the air, the wing hopes to redirect the public focus back to pressing economic and social welfare issues affecting the youth in Negri Sembilan. They reiterated their commitment to serving the people while maintaining the highest level of respect for the constitutional monarchy system in Malaysia.
