His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, is currently in Moscow at the special invitation of President Vladimir Putin to attend the 81st Victory Day celebrations today, May 9, 2026. As a guest of honour, His Majesty witnessed a high-profile aerial demonstration of the Sukhoi Su-57E fifth-generation fighter jet, performed by a renowned "Hero of Russia" test pilot. The visit highlights the strengthening bilateral relations between Malaysia and Russia, with a particular focus on aerospace technology and high-level diplomatic exchange.

The King's aircraft landed at Vnukovo 2 International Airport earlier this week, where he was formally welcomed by senior Russian officials, including Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko. This visit is seen as a significant move in Malaysia’s "proactive" foreign policy, seeking to balance ties with major global powers while exploring potential military and technological collaborations. Following the parade, His Majesty is expected to hold private discussions regarding educational diplomacy and trade before concluding his official mission.
