Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Russia of violating a recently negotiated three day ceasefire intended to allow for humanitarian aid and civilian evacuations. According to Ukrainian officials, Russian forces resumed shelling in several eastern sectors just hours after the agreement was supposed to take effect. This latest breach has dashed hopes for a temporary pause in the long running war of aggression.

Despite the reported violations, some European leaders have arrived in Kyiv today to push for a more durable 30 day ceasefire. The diplomatic mission aims to create a window for broader peace talks, though Moscow has remained non committal regarding any long term halt to military operations. Vladimir Putin recently stated that the war is "winding down," but his comments were met with skepticism by Western leaders who continue to provide military support to Ukraine.

The humanitarian situation remains dire in frontline cities where aid convoys have been unable to reach trapped civilians due to the ongoing strikes. International observers are calling for both sides to respect the sanctity of humanitarian corridors to prevent further loss of life. As the EU Foreign Affairs Council meets in Brussels today to discuss further aid for Ukraine, the prospect of a lasting peace remains elusive amidst continued battlefield escalations.
