Thailand’s deadly gun violence timeline

BANGKOK — Thailand’s latest shooting has renewed questions over gun violence in a country that has suffered a string of deadly attacks in recent years.

The shooting at Debsirin Nonthaburi School north of Bangkok, where a student shooter killed eight people, including teachers, students and earlier, his own grandparents, is the latest in a series of mass shootings that is rattling the South-east Asian country.

Thailand has one of the highest rates of civilian gun ownership in the region, despite laws restricting firearm possession.

August 2026: Debsirin Nonthaburi School shooting

A 14-year-old student allegedly killed his grandparents before going to his school, where police said five teachers and three students were killed.

Fifteen others have been injured, including two who are in critical condition.
