SAN FRANCISCO — Netflix is reportedly considering a bid for the US broadcast rights to Formula One, following the success of its F1 docuseries Drive to Survive. With ESPN's contract expiring in 2025, Netflix may step in as a contender for the $75-90 million per year deal. While the streaming giant has been cautious with live sports rights, it has recently broadcasted events like the Mike Tyson-Jake Paul fight and NFL’s Christmas games. Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos emphasized that sports could broaden their programming, despite the challenges of full-season sports deals.
