PETALING JAYA: Independent preacher Zamri Vinoth has urged the national unity ministry to organize a dialogue between him and MIC deputy president M. Saravanan, after Unity Minister Aaron Ago Dagang suggested they call off their public debate on Hinduism. Aaron warned that such debates could heighten religious tensions in Malaysia.

Zamri proposed a mature dialogue to address issues instead of fueling polemics, suggesting the recently established interfaith harmony committee facilitate the discussion. He also stated he would welcome Saravanan's withdrawal from the debate if Saravanan admits to defaming him.

Saravanan had previously criticized Zamri for offensive remarks about Hinduism and called for action under the Security Offences Act. Zamri, investigated in 2019 for similar remarks, denied insulting Hindus and claimed his statements were based on "facts and the truth.
