69 houses hit in Perak flash floods

IPOH: Heavy rain this morning led to flash floods in the Perak districts of Kinta and Manjung, affecting at least 69 homes.

Manjung District Disaster Management Committee secretariat said in a statement that monitoring was ongoing in the affected areas, including Kampung Teluk Kechil, Kampung Masjid, Kampung Sungai Pinang Besar and Taman Pangkor Indah in Teluk Baru.

As of 10.30am, the weather remained cloudy and 39 victims had been given shelter in mosques and suraus.

So far, no temporary flood relief centres have been opened.

"Of the 39 victims, 22 were placed at the Kampung Teluk Raja Bayang Mosque, while 17 others were placed at the Surau Al-Amir in Kampung Teluk Kechil."
