KOTA KINABALU: Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) has confirmed that a body discovered just beyond its campus boundaries was not linked to any of its students or staff.
In an official statement, UMS clarified that the location of the incident was beyond the perimeter of the campus.
The university also urged the public not to speculate or spread unverified information regarding the case.
"The university has handed over the matter to the authorities for further action and investigation.
"We advise the public to refrain from making assumptions that may lead to confusion or interfere with ongoing investigations," it said.

The Fire and Rescue Department was called in by the police, dispatching seven firefighters from the Kota Kinabalu station.
The operation began at 1.40pm and concluded at 2.55pm.
The victim, believed to be in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have yet to release details about the identity of the deceased or the cause of death.
Meanwhile, UMS reassured its community that the safety and well-being of its students and staff remain a priority.
