KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested three men in two separate cases of telecommunication cable theft in Putra Perdana and Sepang, causing estimated losses of RM5,400.

Sepang police deputy chief Superintendent Shan Gopal Krishnan said the first arrest involved two local men, aged between 35 and 40, who were caught red-handed stealing Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) cables by the Putra Perdana police crime prevention patrol unit at 10.30pm yesterday.

"During the arrest, both suspects acted aggressively and attempted to flee but were successfully detained after a brief struggle," he said in a statement.

Police seized several items from the suspects, including a vehicle, two manhole keys, a metal hook rod, a mobile phone, and a transparent packet containing a crystal-like substance believed to be syabu.
