BUKIT MERTAJAM: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today said that mosques must be built with the right intention - to nurture piety and uphold noble values within the community.
He said that if the intentions behind building mosques were misguided, they would not lead to the true practice of Islam.
"A mosque should be a place where noble values are upheld to ensure community harmony, not a space to showcase luxury. The purpose is to nurture piety.
"However, if the intention is not correct, it will not lead to the real practice of Islam. It may, instead, result in societal division. That is a frightening reminder for us all.
