KUALA LUMPUR: The Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK) approved over 112,000 new cases under its Debt Management Programme (DMP) in the past two years, with 60,155 cases in 2024 and 52,057 in 2023, according to its 2023–2024 Biennial Report released today. AKPK also collected RM1.73 billion in repayments in 2024, marking a 15.9% increase from RM1.49 billion in 2023. Additionally, participants saw their debt service ratio (DSR) drop from 84% to 40%, reflecting improved financial stability and reduced repayment strain, with DSR representing the portion of monthly income used to repay debts.
