PPP begins registration for South Korean presidential election

SEOUL: South Korea's People Power Party (PPP) on Monday opened a two-day registration period for candidates to run in the conservative party's presidential election on June 3, Yonhap News Agency reported. Several prominent figures are expected to participate in the election, including former Labor Minister Kim Moon-soo, former PPP Chairman Han Dong-hoon, and PPP lawmakers Ahn Cheol-soo and Na Kyung-won who have officially announced their candidacies. Former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo is expected to officially announce his intention to run on Monday, making it his third attempt at the presidency.
