SINGAPORE — The Lion City Sailors sealed the 2024-25 Singapore Premier League title with a 1-0 win over Tanjong Pagar, securing the crown with two matches to spare.
Belgian winger Maxime Lestienne netted the decisive first-half penalty, earning the Sailors their second SPL title under billionaire owner and Football Association of Singapore president Forrest Li.
The victory puts them eight points clear of Tampines Rovers, with fans erupting in celebration at Jurong East Stadium.
After falling short in the past two seasons, the Sailors are back on top—and now turn their focus to the AFC Champions League Two final on May 18, where they’ll face UAE’s Sharjah FC at Bishan Stadium.
Tickets sold out within a day, as the Sailors aim to cap their historic run as the first Singaporean team to reach a continental final. They’ve also booked a place in next season’s AFC Champions League Two.
