Malaysia’s hopes of ending a 34-year title drought in the sepak takraw team regu were dashed after a 0-2 defeat to Thailand in the 2025 Asian Cup final at Stadium Titiwangsa. The home side, backed by over 1,000 fans, couldn’t overcome their long-time rivals, with the last win in the event dating back to the 1991 SEA Games. Malaysia settled for two trophies in the quadrant and regu events at the tournament’s inaugural edition.
