SAN ISIDRO — The trial of Diego Maradona’s medical team has been paused for a week after defense lawyers questioned Judge Julieta Makintach’s impartiality, citing her involvement in a related documentary and alleged courtroom filming. The court will resume May 27 as an investigation is launched into possible rule violations. Maradona died in 2020 at age 60 while recovering from brain surgery. Seven caregivers are charged with “homicide with possible intent” over alleged medical negligence. If convicted, they face 8–25 years in prison.
