KUALA LUMPUR — Polish President Andrzej Duda said Poland and Malaysia, as medium-sized nations, can play a greater role in promoting global multilateralism and collective security amid rising geopolitical tensions.
Speaking at Universiti Malaya, Duda stressed that both countries have the responsibility to shape a fairer world order, not through military might, but through diplomacy, peace-building, and supporting international cooperation.
He praised Malaysia’s leadership in Asean and highlighted shared values like sovereignty, diplomacy, and a rules-based global system. Duda also called for reform of global institutions like the UN to reflect modern realities and ensure fair participation by all nations.
Duda’s visit to Malaysia — his first — runs from June 9 to 11 and aligns with Malaysia’s Asean Chairmanship and Poland’s upcoming EU Council Presidency. He expressed interest in expanding ties in defence, education, tech, and institutional reform.
