Mamelodi Sundowns kicked off their Club World Cup campaign with a 1-0 win over South Korea’s Ulsan HD, thanks to a first-half strike from Iqraam Rayners. The match in Florida was delayed an hour due to lightning, but Sundowns dominated possession and claimed the first African victory of the tournament. Rayners had two goals disallowed before finally converting a neat pass from Lucas Ribeiro.

Despite their control, Sundowns struggled to finish chances, while Ulsan threatened briefly on the counter but couldn’t capitalise. The win puts the South African side top of Group F after Dortmund and Fluminense played out a goalless draw.
