Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has called for federal and state governments to align laws related to human rights, especially those involving family, marriage, and children’s rights. Speaking at the closing of the Muzakarah on Human Rights from the Maqasid Shariah perspective, he highlighted ongoing conflicts between Malaysia’s civil and Islamic legal systems, particularly in multi-racial contexts. He noted issues such as unregistered overseas marriages causing complications in child legitimacy, and legal ambiguities in mixed marriages—especially regarding Malay reserve land and children's rights in states like Sabah and Sarawak. Fadillah urged regular consultations between federal and state authorities to prevent policy clashes. He also emphasized that the Madani Government aims to integrate human rights principles with Maqasid Shariah to ensure inclusive, just, and spiritually grounded national development.
