KUALA LUMPUR — Datuk Seri Najib Razak is reportedly relieved after receiving a discharge not amounting to acquittal (DNAA) in his final SRC-related criminal case involving RM27 million.

His lawyer, Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, said Najib was happy to have one less case hanging over him and can now focus on the ongoing 1MDB trial. Najib had been requesting a DNAA for some time.

The High Court granted the DNAA due to prolonged delays since 2019, with the judge noting that it would be unfair to keep an accused person indefinitely on trial without resolution.

The prosecution had requested more time to compile trial documents, but the judge found no indication the case could proceed soon.

Najib remains in Kajang prison, serving a reduced six-year sentence for a separate RM42 million SRC case upheld in 2022. He also faces the 1MDB trial and was previously acquitted in the 1MDB audit tampering case and granted a DNAA in the RM6.6 billion IPIC case.
