PHNOM PENH — Cambodia has suspended all fuel and gas imports from Thailand as tensions rise over a deadly border clash in the Emerald Triangle. Prime Minister Hun Manet announced the halt would begin at midnight, assuring that alternative sources will meet domestic demand.

The move follows the recent killing of a Cambodian soldier and tit-for-tat border closures after Thailand restricted several checkpoints, citing national security. Both nations have warned their citizens to avoid non-essential travel.

The dispute has also sparked political fallout in Thailand, where leaked calls between leaders led to public backlash and pressure on Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra. Cambodia’s defence ministry further accused the Thai army of breaching a border agreement—claims Thailand denies, calling it a misunderstanding.
