KOTA KINABALU — Sabah Assistant Minister Datuk Andi Muhammad Suryady Bandy was summoned by the MACC today as investigations into a RM200,000 mining licence scandal move closer to charges.
Andi, also Kalabakan MP and Tanjung Batu assemblyman, arrived at the MACC Sabah office with his lawyers to give a statement. A video of him discussing mining licences with a businessman surfaced in December.
MACC is expected to charge three individuals soon, including two assemblymen. Last week, Sindumin rep Datuk Yusof Yacob, who chairs Qhazanah Sabah Berhad, was also questioned. Businessman Albert Teh, who exposed the scandal via leaked videos, is the third expected to face charges.
The alleged offences occurred between 2023 and 2024, involving bribes for mineral licence approvals.
