The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Melaka branch, under Op Gasak 2025, yesterday busted a misappropriation operation involving subsidized liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) worth RM40,000 in Malim Jaya.
Three Myanmar nationals, aged 23 and 24, were arrested during the 7 PM raid while transferring subsidized 14-kg LPG into 50-kg industrial cylinders using illegal connector hoses. KPDN Melaka director Mohd Hazimin Jamaludin stated the premises was operating without valid approval, exploiting government subsidies meant for the public.
The enforcement team seized 107 units of 14-kg subsidized LPG cylinders, 59 units of 50-kg industrial cylinders, and 20 rubber hoses. The case is being investigated under the Supply Control Act 1961, which carries penalties of up to RM1 million in fines or three years imprisonment for individuals, and RM2 million in fines for companies.
