A former private university admission manager, Mohd Khalid Ka'ab, 42, was fined RM35,000 (or four months' jail) by the Sessions Court today for forging student recruitment documents six years ago.
Ka'ab pleaded guilty to dishonestly using a false Student Recruitment Agreement between Institut Teknologi Petronas Sdn Bhd (ITPSB) and Profedge Sdn Bhd, dated August 1, 2019. This forged document was used to process RM323,650 in payments to Profedge Sdn Bhd for services that were never rendered. The alleged offense occurred at the Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) Registrar's Office in Seri Iskandar in June 2019.
Investigations by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) began after a report was filed on September 15, 2021, revealing the forgery which facilitated payments for students not recruited through the agency. The charge was framed under Section 471 of the Penal Code.
