ISKANDAR PUTERI: The father of the six-year-old boy found murdered and buried in Rompin, Negri Sembilan, was handed over to Jempol police today.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner M Kumarasan said the suspect, in custody since July 25, was handed over to Jempol police after his remand for investigations into lodging a false report and negligence expired today.
Police obtained a seven-day remand order against the 36-year-old suspect, a day after he lodged a missing person report.
He claimed he lost the boy, A.Tishant after leaving the boy in a car while buying food about 6pm on July 23 in Bukit Indah, here.
Four days later, Jempol police discovered the child's body buried in shrubland in Rompin.
A post-mortem revealed the boy died from strangulation with a cable tie, confirming foul play.
The case, which has sparked national outrage, is being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
